Karzai and Brown stressed the reopening of schools and universities for girls

In a video conference with Gordon Brown, the United Nations Special Representative for Global Education, the former president of Afghanistan emphasized the reopening of schools and universities for girls in Afghanistan.

Hamid Karzai, the former president of Afghanistan, wrote in a tweet that in this conversation, both sides discussed and exchanged opinions about the importance of education and stressed the reopening of schools and universities for girls.

In the continuation of this conversation, Mr. Karzai requested the continuation of the cooperation of the United Nations to facilitate the field of education for the youth in Afghanistan.

Three days ago, Corden Brown, the former Prime Minister of Great Britain and UN Representative in the Department of Global Education, in an interview with CNN, in response to the ban on education and work of women and girls by the Taliban, said that this action should be taken by Islamic countries as an insult to the religion of Islam.

He said: “The world should wake up and, in cooperation with countries with a large number of Muslims, encourage the Taliban to change their views on women’s education and work.”

He asked Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Indonesia to oppose the Taliban’s decision.
