A woman and a young girl committed suicide in Bamyan

Local officials in Bamyan say that a woman and a young girl committed suicide by consuming poison in this province.

The Bamyan Police Command said in a statement that a 50-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl committed suicide by eating rat poison in Sighan district of this province.

According to the announcement, this incident took place in the villages of “Qaroune” and “Sargul” of Motzakrah district, and these two people died while being taken to the hospital.

Officials at the Bamyan Police Command called the reason for the suicide of these two women as family violence and say that further investigations are underway in this case.

It should be noted that the number of suicides among Afghan women has increased in the last year and a half, and the reasons for this are forced marriages, family problems, poverty, unemployment, mental illnesses, and failure to deal with cases of violence.
