The Taliban arrested Ismail Meshaal

Taliban forces have arrested Ismail Meshaal on the charge of provocative actions against the government of this group.

Abdulhaq Hammad, head of monitoring media publications in the Ministry of Information and Culture of the Taliban, in a tweet confirming the arrest of Ismail Mashal, a university professor, wrote that the security agencies took him for investigation.

In response to the arrest of this university professor by the Taliban forces, Richard Bennett, the United Nations special rapporteur for Afghanistan, has demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Mr. Meshaal.

In a tweet, he expressed concern about the arrest of this university professor by the Taliban and said that targeting and suppressing peaceful civil activities is unacceptable and contrary to Afghanistan’s international obligations.

The UN Special Rapporteur for Afghanistan added: “I demand his immediate and unconditional release.”
