Torkham border was reopened to traffic after being closed twice in a week

Local sources in Nangarhar say that Torkham border crossing has been opened for people, passenger and commercial vehicles.

Noor Muhammad Hanif, head of information and culture of Nangarhar Province, said today (Saturday) that the crossing is now fully open and active after being closed for six days.

He said: “Afghan citizens who were stuck on both sides of the border and could not return to the country, now their problem has been solved.”

On Friday, the Taliban announced that a high-level delegation led by Noorullah Noori, the group’s minister of border and tribal affairs, was negotiating with Pakistan over the crossing.

Torkham crossing, one of the main transit crossings between Afghanistan and Pakistan, had been closed last Sunday following the dispute between the Taliban and Pakistan.
