Khalilzad: Afghanistan was a headache for the United States

The former representative of the US in Afghanistan peace affairs called this country a big headache for the US and said that the US should have left Afghanistan.

Zalmay Khalilzad, the former representative of the United States in Afghanistan’s peace affairs, has said that the Taliban and the former government of Afghanistan were not serious in negotiating with each other, so the United States decided to leave the country.

According to him, Ashraf Ghani and his team were optimistic about the presence of America in Afghanistan and therefore they did not take the negotiations with the Taliban seriously.

It should be remembered that about two years ago, American forces were hastily withdrawn from Afghanistan, and after that, the Taliban came to power in this country.

Zalmi Khalilzad had said before that the withdrawal of America from Afghanistan was not orderly, but it could have been worse.

He said: “I am not saying that this departure was orderly. It was an ugly ending, but at the same time, he claims it could have been much worse.
