Iran handed over more than 180 imprisoned Afghan citizens to the Afghan government

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban says that more than 180 Afghan citizens who were imprisoned in Iran were surrendered to the Afghan authorities.

Hafiz Zia Ahmad, Deputy Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban wrote in a tweet that following the surrender of Afghans imprisoned in Iran by that country, 189 people have returned to Afghanistan today (Tuesday).

He added that these Afghan citizens who were imprisoned in Iran were handed over to the Afghan government through the port of Islam Qala.

The Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban had also announced yesterday the release of 268 Afghan citizens by the Iranian government as a result of negotiations and agreements between the two countries.

He added that a delegation from the Islamic Emirate had reached an agreement with the authorities of that country on the release of these Afghan citizens who were in Iranian prisons.
