The nationwide campaign of implementing the polio vaccine has started in Afghanistan

The Polio Eradication Organization in Afghanistan has announced the beginning of the polio vaccination campaign throughout Afghanistan.

The organization wrote in a tweet that the polio vaccination campaign across Afghanistan will start today (Monday) and will continue for three days, during which 9.9 million children will receive the vaccine.

This organization asked people to vaccinate their children against polio in this campaign.

Previously, the World Health Organization had named Afghanistan and Pakistan in a tweet as the only countries in the world where polio still exists, and the insecurity in these two countries has made it impossible to fully implement the vaccine for this disease.

Emphasizing that Afghanistan has a great opportunity to eradicate polio, this organization added that in 2021, only four cases of polio were registered in this country, while this figure was 56 in 2020.

It should be mentioned that before this the officials of the Ministry of Health of Pakistan have also said that this country can eradicate polio in a joint effort with Afghanistan.
