A mortar shell explosion in Helmand injured two children

Local sources in Helmand say that two children were wounded as a result of the explosion of a mortar head in this province.

Sources say that this incident happened in Nawa district of Helmand province when two children were busy playing in an agricultural field.

At the same time, the officials in the Department of Information and Culture of Helmand Province confirmed the occurrence of this incident and said that the injured were taken to the hospital and their health status is satisfactory.

Earlier, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) expressed concern about the increase in child deaths due to the explosion of unexploded ordnance left over from the war in Afghanistan.
