Thomas West met with some officials and members of Afghan civil society in Istanbul

Thomas West, the US special representative for Afghanistan affairs, says that he met with some officials of the former government and members of the Afghan civil society in Istanbul.

He wrote in a tweet that he discussed the challenges and participation of the international community in this country during the meeting with the former government officials and members of the Afghan civil society in Istanbul.

Mr. West added: “We have to prove our approach in consultation with the Afghans.”

The US special representative for Afghanistan has emphasized that dialogue is a peaceful solution to solve the challenges in Afghanistan and not violence.

He added that in this meeting, he emphasized the permanent commitment of the United States to the people of Afghanistan, the determination of the United States to cooperate with others to deal with the humanitarian crisis, and to support dialogue among Afghans about the future of their country.
