Iran reduced imported electricity to Herat

Local officials in Herat say that Iran has reduced the electricity imported to this province amid tensions between the two countries.

Ismail Mashwani, the head of the Herat Electricity Supply Company, says that the lack of electricity will probably have a negative impact on hospitals, businesses and homes in the city, it is not clear how long this disruption will last.

Meanwhile, Iranian officials have said that due to the extreme heat and lack of electricity in that country, they have reduced the amount of imported electricity to Herat.

Iran is reducing its electricity supply to Herat while fierce border conflicts are taking place between Iran and Afghanistan over the water rights of the Hirmand River.
