Iran has expelled hundreds of Afghan refugees since May

According to IRNA news agency, Hossein Sharafati Rad, Director General of Foreign Nationals and Foreign Immigrants Affairs Office in Khorasan Razavi has announced the deportation of 90,000 Afghan citizens since May.
He said that these asylum seekers from all over Iran were arrested by the police and they were returned from Mashhad city to Herat province of Afghanistan through Islam Qala-Dogharun border.
Khorasan Razavi, the Director General of the Office of Foreign Nationals, added: “These people include voluntary returnees and those who were arrested by the Iranian police throughout Tehran and other cities and were transferred to Mashhad detention centers before being returned to Afghanistan.”
According to him, 86 thousand 16 refugees were deported from Iran to Afghanistan last spring.
It should be mentioned that currently most of the refugees from Afghanistan are in foreign countries, and in this sense, this country ranks third in the world.
