The Taliban rejected the UN Security Council’s report on the expansion of ISIS activities in Afghanistan

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, reacted to the recent report of the United Nations Security Council regarding the threats of ISIS in Afghanistan and called it far from reality.

In a statement, he said that two high-ranking anti-terrorism officials in the United Nations Security Council recently provided information to the ambassadors about ISIS threats to the world and Afghanistan, in which the claim of the existence of 20 groups in Afghanistan, the expansion of weapons and the increase of capabilities ISIS operation has been repeated once again.

The spokesman of the Islamic Emirate added that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan once again rejects these baseless accusations and while it wants transparent interaction in such issues, it notes that in the last two years, the Afghan security forces have conducted hundreds of independent operations against illegal weapons and ISIS as a result, weapons and ammunition have been obtained and ISIS’s operational capability has been destroyed.

Mr. Mujahid emphasized that the activities of ISIS in Afghanistan have been reduced to zero in the past year, and said that the United Nations is questioning its dignity with such claims.

The spokesman of the Islamic Emirate also called for the lifting of sanctions on Afghanistan by the United Nations and said that the unilateral sanctions on Afghanistan by the United Nations and other parties and the blocking of assets are the main cause of the difficult human situation that has adversely affected the lives of ordinary Afghan people.
