The Asian Development Bank donated $100 million to Afghanistan

The World Food Program has announced a $100 million donation from the Asian Development Bank to Afghanistan.
The funding will allow WFP to provide critical food assistance to more than 1.3 million people in need across Afghanistan for one year, the WFP said in a statement.
The organization added that with these grants, women in need will also be trained in market skills and entrepreneurship and alternative livelihoods along the agricultural value chain, such as fruit and vegetable processing.
During the training, they will receive monthly cash support while improving their long-term livelihoods and ability to stand on their own feet and buy food for their families thanks to new skills, according to a WFP announcement.
In the announcement of the World Food Program, quoted by the Asian Development Bank, it is stated: “Afghanistan is facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, which is accompanied by climate change and severe droughts, floods and earthquakes.” “Women and children are disproportionately affected, as many female-headed households suffer from food insecurity and access to services is reduced due to restrictions on women’s movement outside the home.”
The organization added that this is the second contribution of the Asian Development Bank to the World Food Program.
