President Ghani spoke by telephone with the new US Secretary of United State

The Presidential Palace announced that the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, had a telephone conversation with the new US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, this evening (Thursday, 28th January).
According to the statement, in this telephone conversation, both sides discussed the relations between the two countries and the recent developments in the Afghan peace process.
In the telephone conversation, the US Secretary of State expressed his deep concern over the escalation of violence and targeted assassinations in Afghanistan.
He also praised the victims of the Afghan security and defense forces, saying that the US government supports a meaningful, lasting and comprehensive peace and is working to establish a permanent ceasefire.
“Our common goal is an independent, united, and democratic Afghanistan, and we will continue our diplomatic efforts in the region to achieve lasting peace and a lasting ceasefire,” He said.
Government and Taliban delegations have been in Qatar for several days, but no formal meeting has been held between the two delegations.
