Taliban calls Afghan asset freeze outrageous

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, reported that the continuation of the blockade of Afghan assets in 2024 is against all principles and an outrageous act.
This comes after the US froze about $7 billion in assets of the Central Bank of Afghanistan after the Taliban took office.
The United States transferred 3.5 billion to the Afghanistan Trust Fund in Switzerland, and the remaining 3.5 billion remain blocked.
The Taliban spokesman said the continuing blockade of Afghan assets in 2024 was “against all principles and an outrageous act.”
