A female police officer was assassinated in Kandahar

Security officials in Kandahar province say a female police officer was assassinated by unknown individuals in Kandahar.

Kandahar police spokesman Jamal Nasser Barakzai said that this morning (Thursday, February 11), a female police officer was assassinated by unknown gunmen in the third security district of Kandahar.

Mr Barakzai said gunmen had fled the scene after the assassination.

No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack.
