America’s reaction to Sirajuddin Haqqani’s visit to the United Arab Emirates

The United States Department of State reacted in connection with the visit of Sirajuddin Haqqani, Acting Minister of Interior Affairs of the caretaker government of Afghanistan, to the United Arab Emirates.
US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller says that countries should respect the travel ban for Islamic Emirate officials.
On Wednesday (16th of Gemini), Mr. Miller said about Haqqani’s trip to Abu Dhabi that countries should obtain permission for the travel of those officials of the Islamic Emirate who are on the UN sanctions list.
He added that this permit is obtained through the process of obtaining a travel exemption as specified in the 1988 resolution of the United Nations Sanctions Committee.
Mr. Haqqani went on a trip to Abu Dhabi on Tuesday (15th of Gemini) and met with high-ranking officials, including Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Emir of the United Arab Emirates.
