Muttaqi Meets Representatives of Türkiye, Iran, UN in Kabul

Cenk Ünal, the Turkish ambassador in Kabul, in a meeting with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting foreign minister, pledged his country’s continued efforts to enhance diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Afghanistan.

Bilateral relations between Kabul and Ankara, strengthening diplomatic ties, and regional issues were among the topics discussed in the meeting between the two sides.

Zia Ahmad Takal, head of public relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated about this meeting: “In this meeting, discussions were held on the development of relations between Afghanistan and Türkiye, enhancing diplomatic ties, and regional issues. The acting foreign minister expressed his gratitude to the Turkish government for facilitating the work of Afghan diplomats in Istanbul and Ankara.”

Meanwhile, in a separate meeting with Roza Otunbayeva, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan and head of UNAMA, Amir Khan Muttaqi stressed economic stability in the country and assured that Afghanistan will witness rapid economic growth in the near future.

Regarding the meeting with the UNAMA head, the head of public relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated: “The acting foreign minister, referring to the Islamic Emirate’s achievements in various sectors, especially economic stability, mentioned that Afghanistan is currently moving towards progress following economic stabilization.”

Amir Khan Muttaqi also met with Alireza Bekdeli, the acting ambassador of Iran in Kabul, where both sides discussed bilateral relations and economic cooperation.

Meanwhile, the UNAMA head and Nooruddin Azizi, the acting minister of industry and commerce discussed the development of Afghanistan’s industrial parks, the establishment of an entrepreneurship center, support for the private sector, and the creation of an online trade center.

Akhundzada Abdul Salam Jawad, spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, said about this meeting: “In this meeting, various topics were discussed, including the development of Afghanistan’s industrial parks, the establishment of an entrepreneurship center, the creation of an online trade center, support for the private sector, addressing electricity issues in industrial parks, and the priorities of the private sector.”

Before meeting Cenk Ünal, Amir Khan Muttaqi also met with Mirdef Alqashouti, the chargé d’affaires of the Qatari embassy for Afghanistan. The parties discussed strengthening diplomatic relations, increasing Qatar’s assistance to Afghanistan, and regional issues.
