Media Coordination Efforts Highlighted in Kabul Program
Khairullah Khairkhwa, the acting minister of information and culture, emphasized the importance of media activities in shaping a healthy public mindset during a coordination program for spokespersons and media officials in Kabul.
Khairkhwa stated that the Ministry of Information and Culture is working to resolve existing challenges facing media operations. He said, “We aim to gradually implement existing programs in a way that benefits the people.”
Hayatullah Mohajer Farahi, deputy minister of publications at the Ministry of Information and Culture, said disorder is caused by institutions, federations, and unions claiming to support the media. He said, “Many journalists share with us that instead of benefiting the media, these institutions often cause harm.”
Abdul Mateen Qani, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, assured enhanced cooperation and coordination between government spokespersons and media outlets. He said, “This is our shared responsibility. We work together in one line, and we appreciate your cooperation. We also request your collaboration. We are committed to addressing any issues related to access to information in the future, God willing.”
Several media representatives in the program emphasized strengthening domestic media. They said they value the access to information and urged government spokespersons to cooperate in providing accurate and timely information.
Zabihullah Sadat, head of , stated, “There might be malicious plans from abroad that never want domestic media to align with institutions and broadcast Afghanistan’s true image.”
Some participants criticized the performance of journalist support organizations.
“Unfortunately, over the past twenty years, we had addresses, but they did not work as expected. We hope that in the future, these addresses will meet expectations,” said Rohullah Alizi, a journalist.
This five-day program, organized by the Ministry of Information and Culture for spokespersons of ministries and government agencies, aimed at better coordination with the media and concluded today in Kabul.
