Trump signs executive order to revive ‘maximum pressure’ policy on Iran

US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to revive ‘maximum pressure’ policy on Iran.

“We have the right to prevent Iran from selling oil to other countries,” he said.

“I will be negotiating with the president of Iran, and Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon,” Trump added.

The US president added that Iran is very close to obtaining a nuclear weapon.

Donald Trump called the measure “very tough” as he signed the order.

“This is one of the decisions that I have doubts about. Everyone wants me to sign it, and I will do it. This document is very tough on the Islamic Republic of Iran, and it is the same policy that we had under the previous administration.”

The US President said: “If this policy had been maintained, these problems would never have arisen. The incident of October 7th would never have happened.

If the election had gone in a different direction at that time, which it should have gone, we would not be dealing with these problems.”
