Interior Ministry: No Threatening Group Exists in Afghanistan

The Ministry of Interior, rejecting concerns raised by international organizations, emphasized that no group exists in Afghanistan that poses a threat to the security of the country or the world.

Abdul Mateen Qani, the spokesperson of the ministry, described Afghanistan’s security situation as unprecedented compared to the past decade.

He added that small and scattered activities of terrorist groups are organized outside Afghanistan’s borders and in regional countries.

Qani said: “The Islamic Emirate has absolute control over all the country’s territory and does not allow any individual or group to disrupt the country’s security. The concerns of some international organizations, institutions, or regional and global countries regarding potential security threats from Afghan soil are baseless and unfounded, and we completely reject them.”

This comes as the UN Security Council is set to hold a special meeting tomorrow on the threats posed by ISIS.

The meeting will review the UN Secretary-General’s six-month report, in which ISIS-Khorasan has been identified as a serious threat originating from Afghanistan.

“Since this is considered a transregional and international threat, the UN Security Council must establish a regional consensus to contain and eliminate this group,” said Sadiq Shinwari, a military analyst.

Meanwhile, Russia’s ambassador to Pakistan, Albert Khorov, has stated that Moscow supports Afghanistan’s counterterrorism efforts.
He emphasized that his country is committed to strengthening constructive cooperation with Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The Russian ambassador stated: “Strengthening peace and stability in Afghanistan and countering terrorist threats emanating from its soil are in our shared regional interests.”

“The government is obliged to exert even more effort to ultimately put an end to this phenomenon,” said Moeen Gul Samakanai, a political analyst.

Previously, SIGAR had also reported an increase in ISIS attacks in 2024, stating that ISIS-Khorasan is a serious threat to Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, and Russia.

However, the Islamic Emirate dismissed the report as mere propaganda.
