Five government forces were killed and wounded in a car bomb blast in Herat

Officials in Herat say five people have been killed and injured in a car bomb blast in the province.

Sayed Abdul Wahid Qitali; The governor of Herat province said that the incident took place this morning (Tuesday, 20th April) after a Taliban car bomb was targeted by security forces before reaching the police headquarters in Ghorian district.

According to him, after the explosion, Taliban fighters clashed with security forces but were repulsed with the support of the air force.

According to Mr. Qitali, two government forces were killed and three others were wounded in the incident, but he did not provide details about the Taliban casualties.

Officials say the Taliban have recently stepped up their attacks in Herat province.
