Eight security forces were killed in a Taliban attack in Badakhshan

Local sources in Badakhshan report that eight policemen were killed in a Taliban attack on a security checkpoint in the province.

Abdullah Naji; A member of the Badakhshan Provincial Council says that the incident took place last night (Monday, 19^th April) in Zibak district of Badakhshan.

According to him, eight policemen were killed and two others were wounded in the incident.

Mr Naji added that the Taliban had also been harmed in the incident, but did not provide statistics, adding that Taliban fighters had taken all the checkpoint equipment with them.

Zibak is one of the most insecure districts in Badakhshan where the Taliban are active.
