Ministry of Economy: Islamic Emirate’s Presence at SCO Summit is Essential

The Ministry of Economy considers the participation of the Islamic Emirate’s delegation in the upcoming summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) as essential.
According to the ministry’s deputy, the SCO is not only a political-security organization but also an important platform for joint investments, energy transit, and infrastructure projects among regional countries.
Abdul Latif Nazari, Deputy Minister of Economy, said: “The Shanghai summit plays an important role in the region’s security, politics, economy, and trade. The presence of the Islamic Emirate’s representative in this summit is a necessity and can play a key role in expanding Afghanistan’s engagement with member states of the organization.”
Political analyst Idris Mohammadi Zazi said: “The presence of Afghanistan’s representative in such summits is crucial, as it ensures Afghanistan is not sidelined by countries that could pose a threat to SCO member states.”
The SCO summit is scheduled to be held from August 31 to September 1 in Tianjin, China.
Leaders from China, Russia, India, Pakistan, and Central Asian countries, along with representatives from 20 nations and dozens of international organizations, will once again come together to discuss key issues ranging from security to economy and transit.
However, it remains unclear whether the Islamic Emirate’s representative will participate in the summit.
Political analyst Mohammad Aslam Danishmal noted: “The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is extremely important for regional development and was established with this purpose in mind. The SCO ensures comprehensive development for member countries, which is why its summits are vital for Afghanistan.”
China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, India, and Pakistan are permanent members of the SCO, while Afghanistan and four other countries have been invited to the summit as observers.
