Wasiq: Security Ensured in Afghanistan, No Threat to Region or World

The head of intelligence of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, in an interview with the Qatari Al Jazeera network, emphasized that security is currently ensured in Afghanistan and there is no threat from within the country to the region or the world.

Abdul Haq Wasiq stated that four years after the withdrawal of foreign forces, security institutions have been able to reduce sabotage cells, mafia activities, and corruption to nearly zero.

He said: “After coming to power, we ended mysterious assassinations and significantly eliminated mafia activities, bringing them down to nearly zero.”

Sayed Akbar Sial Wardak, a political analyst, commented: “The Islamic Emirate has proven over the past four years that there is no threat from Afghanistan to regional or global countries. Some concerns are raised, and people are worried, but I don’t think those concerns originate from Afghanistan.”

Wasiq also rejected recent reports by some international organizations about the transfer of foreign fighters to Afghanistan, calling them baseless and fabricated by enemy intelligence agencies. He added that there are no centers or activities by such groups in Afghanistan.

In response to reports about intelligence cooperation between the Islamic Emirate and the United States, he stated that they have no partnership or official agreement with any side in this regard.

Wasiq added: “Recently, some international organizations, countries, individuals, and other entities have prepared false and baseless reports about Afghanistan. We believe these reports are created by intelligence agencies and fake intelligence networks to foster suspicion and mistrust about the Islamic Emirate’s growing political and security engagement on the international stage. Another aim of these reports is to evade shared security responsibilities in the region and the world.”

Najib Rahman Shamal, an international relations analyst, said: “It should not be forgotten that the fight against terrorism is not solely Afghanistan’s responsibility. If such forces are present outside Afghanistan or in neighboring countries, all countries must join hands and initiate joint efforts against terrorism, which is the common enemy of all.”

The head of intelligence of the Islamic Emirate also stressed that ISIS has no real base in Afghanistan, and its leaders have either been killed or fled to other countries.

According to him: “The Islamic Emirate has fulfilled its responsibility in fighting ISIS, but other countries must also play their role. ISIS fighters are of various nationalities, and when they arrive in Afghanistan, they pass through other countries. Therefore, these countries must prevent their entry. If that happens, we are confident that eliminating this threat will not be difficult. The attacks ISIS is currently carrying out in Afghanistan or other regional countries are planned abroad.”

Javid Momand, a political analyst, said: “If international institutions like the United Nations and other countries can fight these groups, I believe these groups and phenomena can be confronted. Otherwise, it won’t be long before other countries in the region, like Afghanistan, fall victim to this threat.”

Wasiq’s remarks come as several regional and global countries have previously expressed concern about what they describe as security threats originating from Afghanistan.
