Anas Haqqani: Past Wars and Negotiations Shaped Today’s Afghanistan

Anas Haqqani, a senior member of the Islamic Emirate, has said that the experience of past wars and negotiations paved the way for the formation of today’s Afghanistan.

In an interview with an Indian media outlet, he emphasized that conditions are now favorable for Afghanistan’s progress in the fields of education and technology.

Mr. Haqqani said: “We gained a great deal of experience from those wars and negotiations. The Afghanistan you see today is the result of those experiences. In other countries, military officers earn their ranks through study, but our leader is a real general. He fought against the Russians and the Americans, and he has both military and political experience. Even during the war, we made peace among the people. They used to come to us in the mountains because our courts were there.”

Yousuf Amin Zazai, a political analyst, stated: “Every government must maintain good relations with our old friends—those who stood by us, maintained ties, and extended cooperation and assistance. This is the demand of the Afghan people.”

The Islamic Emirate official also described India’s role in global discussions on Afghanistan as significant and called for the resumption of India’s development projects in the country.

Anas Haqqani added: “The Indian Embassy in Afghanistan is now open. A positive point is that India plays an active role in major conferences on Afghanistan. The projects that India once implemented in Afghanistan have not yet been restarted, and people are demanding that these projects be resumed.”

Enayatullah Adel, another political analyst, said: “Some countries have nearly recognized the Islamic Emirate and have acted more constructively in diplomacy. However, the Islamic Emirate still needs to strive to build better relations with neighboring countries as well as the wider world.”

Mr. Haqqani further stated that one of the main reasons for Afghanistan’s setbacks in education has been decades of war, stressing that the Islamic Emirate intends to achieve greater progress in education and technology.
