Increased Transportation via Railways; Job Opportunities and Growing National Income

Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, announced that in the past week (September 18 to September 23), 104,179 metric tons of goods were transported via the ministry’s railways.
According to him, this amount includes transfers from Hairatan Port (730,800 tons), Aqineh Port (4527 tons), Turghandi Port (16,774 tons) and the Khaf-Herat route (9,798 tons) and includes a variety of oil, non-oil goods and other materials.
During the same period, 193 tons of goods were exported, including dried fruits and pomegranate juice. Haqshenas emphasized that increasing exports and imports via railways will create more job opportunities, increase national income and pave the way for economic development and self-sufficiency.
He added that the Ministry of Public Works is trying to provide suitable conditions for the rapid and sustainable transfer of commercial goods and to create more convenience for traders.
