Afghan Red Crescent: Treatment of children with heart defects is carried out within the country

The Afghan Red Crescent Society announced that in the past six months, 388 children with heart defects have been referred to hospitals within the country for treatment.
Abdul Qadeem Abrar, a spokesman for the organization, emphasized that the treatment of these patients is carried out only in domestic hospitals and there are no foreign contracts for the treatment of this disease.
He stated: “The Afghan Red Crescent refers heart defect patients to hospitals within the country and does not have any contracts with foreign countries for the treatment of these patients.”
This is while children with this disease and their families face serious challenges.
Doctors warned that failure to treat heart defects in a timely manner can lead to blood clots, blocked arteries, stroke or even death.
According to statistics from the Red Crescent, another 15,000 children are waiting for treatment for this disease, and the cost of treatment for each child is estimated to be between $750 and $2,350.
