Zalmai Khalilzad met with the Uzbek Foreign Minister to discuss peace in Afghanistan

The Uzbek Foreign Ministry announced in a statement that the Foreign Minister met with US Special Envoy for Afghanistan Zalmai Khalilzad.

The ministry said in a statement that Abdul Aziz Kamlov; Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan with Zalmai Khalilzad; The US Special Envoy for the Peace of Afghanistan met on May 2, 2021.

The statement added that during the meeting, the two sides discussed solutions to the Afghan conflict, the current situation in the country, as well as mechanisms to facilitate the negotiation process.

Emphasizing that there is no military solution to end the conflict in Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and the United States agreed to support comprehensive inter-Afghan talks, as well as to develop regional trade, implement investment and infrastructure projects, and Provisions for Afghanistan to cooperate.
