Identification of Nine State-Owned Townships in Four Provinces

The Commission for the Prevention of Land Grabbing and the Recovery of Grabbed Lands says that nine townships, covering more than 50,000 jeribs of land in four provinces, have been declared state property based on the rulings of special Sharia courts.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan stated that these decisions were made after thorough, impartial reviews and based on valid documents and evidence.

Barakatullah Rasouli, spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, said: “The mentioned courts, after careful and unbiased examination of the cases, reviewing the available documents and evidence, and obtaining verified information from the relevant departments, have ruled that all lands of these townships belong to the Emirate.”

The Commission for the Prevention of Land Grabbing and the Recovery of Grabbed Lands also assured that its goal is to reclaim state-owned lands that have been seized, in accordance with applicable laws and procedures.

Some residents of Kabul expressed their views regarding the recovery of these seized townships.

Ezat, a resident of Kabul, said: “It is a very good step that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is now reclaiming lands that had been seized.”

Parwiz, another resident of Kabul, added: “Our demand from the government is to take back the townships that have been occupied by powerful individuals and hand them over to traders.”

This comes as earlier, the Commission for the Prevention of Land Grabbing and the Recovery of Grabbed Lands had announced that more than 18 jeribs of land from phases one and two of the Arya Township, located in Kabul’s 10th district, were proven to be state property following legal and technical assessments.
