China and Tajikistan Vow Joint Efforts on Afghan Stability

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, during a meeting with Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin, emphasized the importance of stability in Afghanistan.

The Chinese Foreign Minister described Afghanistan as a “shared neighbor” of China and Tajikistan and said China is willing to cooperate with Tajikistan on Afghan matters, including promoting peace, stability, and reconstruction.

The state Council of China in a statement said: “The two ministers also exchanged views on the Afghan issue. Wang said that Afghanistan is a common neighbor of China and Tajikistan, and China is willing to continue to strengthen coordination with Tajikistan on the Afghan issue, with a view to promoting regional peace and stability and reconstruction in the country.”

Ahmad Bilal Omar, an international relations expert, said: “Influential countries like China must make efforts for stability and address the threats facing Afghanistan, focusing more on trade and economic matters.”

Some political analysts believe that cooperation among Afghanistan’s neighbors in promoting stability and reconstruction could play a vital role.

They argue that China’s economic capacity and Tajikistan’s geographical proximity can provide practical support for the peace and development process in Afghanistan.

Fazlmanullah Mumtaz, a political affairs analyst, said: “In any engagement, we must consider that the interests of the other party are involved. China is a major and influential country, both politically and economically.”

Aziz Maarij, an international relations expert, said: “It is evident that following the talks between the two foreign ministers, decisions will be made, and based on their interests and needs, these will be shared with the Islamic Emirate as well.”

These discussions come shortly after a Tajik delegation visited Kabul to enhance political, economic, and security ties and to discuss bilateral issues with officials of the Islamic Emirate.
