A child was killed when a mortar shell hit a residential house in Takhar

Security sources in Takhar reported that a child was killed when a mortar shell hit a residential house in the province.

Khalil Asir; Takhar police spokesman said that a mortar shell hit a residential house on the Takhar-Kunduz highway near the six-meter bridge at noon yesterday (Friday, May 21), killing a child.

According to Mr. Asir, a woman and another child were also injured in the incident.

Mr. Asir blames the Taliban for the incident.

The Taliban have not yet commented.

Meanwhile, the international community has repeatedly called on the parties to the conflict in Afghanistan to prevent civilian casualties.
