Hanafi: War and Interference Benefit No One

Senior officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan on Thursday, during an event in Kabul, emphasized the importance of maintaining positive relations with the international community.

Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar stated that constructive engagement with Afghanistan is a necessity of the time. He called on regional and global countries not to sacrifice opportunities for regional development to destructive political agendas.

“Positive engagement with Afghanistan is a necessity of the time, and strengthening regional and global connectivity as well as pursuing shared development goals are essential pillars. Ignoring this reality weakens efforts to achieve common objectives and deliberately wastes existing potential opportunities,” Baradar said.

In another part of his remarks, Baradar said Afghanistan had previously been divided along ethnic and regional political lines. According to him, the Islamic Emirate is working to unite Afghans under a single Islamic and national platform.

“We have not obstructed anyone, nor is the capacity of the Islamic Emirate so limited that it would treat every individual and minor issue as a major matter,” he added.

Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs Abdul Salam Hanafi also spoke at the event, warning that war and interference in one another’s affairs benefit no party.

“We must move forward based on a win-win approach, not on a win-lose policy. A win-lose strategy has never produced positive results. You should develop, and we should develop. We have no problems with any of our neighbors,” Hanafi stated.

The officials’ emphasis on good relations with neighboring and regional countries comes at a time when tensions between Kabul and Islamabad remain ongoing.
