Uzbekistan Eyes Investment in Afghanistan’s Pharmaceutical Sector

Abdul Salam Hanafi, the Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs, met on Sunday with Abdullah Azizov, the director of the Agency for Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry of Uzbekistan, and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, Azizov announced the readiness of Uzbek traders and investors to invest in the import and distribution of medicines in Afghanistan. He added that a number of Uzbek investors have already arrived in Afghanistan to discuss investment opportunities and ways to address existing challenges in ensuring the supply of high-quality medicines.
The Uzbek official emphasized that the import and distribution of quality medicines and gaining public trust are among their top priorities. He also pledged that any medicines produced and used in Uzbekistan will be supplied to Afghanistan with the same quality.
Meanwhile, Abdul Salam Hanafi described investment in high-quality medicines in Afghanistan as a valuable step by Uzbekistan toward strengthening bilateral relations. He added that the Islamic Emirate welcomes all investments and will provide necessary facilities for traders and investors within the country.
The Administrative Deputy also stressed the importance of importing quality medicines, noting that relations between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan are in their best state, and that “the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is interested in further expanding these ties, especially in the economic and trade sectors.”
