Hanafi urges youth to pursue science and technology

Sheikh Mohammad Khalid Hanafi, Minister of vice and virtue, in a meeting with a number of tribal elders, religious scholars, and professors from various provinces, emphasized the mutual responsibilities of individuals in society and said that everyone must work collectively to sustain the Islamic system.
Hanafi also highlighted the importance of modern sciences and technology in the country, stressing the need to encourage young people and provide the necessary opportunities in these fields.
Sheikh Mohammad Khalid Hanafi said: “Young people must be encouraged, and at the same time, all youth should be encouraged toward modern sciences, science, and technology. In fact, every individual in society should be encouraged. If we move in step with technology, whether neighbors or outsiders, no one will be able to misuse our space.”
It is worth noting that officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan have repeatedly emphasized the importance of modern sciences among citizens, particularly the younger generation.
Meanwhile, a number of university professors and religious scholars hold differing views on the issue.
Janat Fahim Chakari, a university professor, told : “The value of modern sciences is very significant. In society, there are instrumental elites and intellectual elites. Instrumental elites are those who hold power, while intellectual elites are those who can contribute to the advancement of science, technology, and modern knowledge.”
Haseebullah Hanafi, a religious scholar, said: “Alongside other responsibilities, it is the duty of the Islamic Emirate to value modern sciences in addition to religious education.”
Earlier, the Minister for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice had also stated at an event in Kabul that inspectors of the ministry are obliged to call on people to practice religious duties and enforce Islamic law.
Mohammad Khalid Hanafi added that everyone must align their behavior and “appearance” with Islamic law, and inspectors must act seriously in this regard.
