JD Vance Heads to Pakistan Again for Talks with Tehran

U.S. Vice President JD Vance is expected to travel to Pakistan today (Tuesday).

The purpose of the visit is to continue discussions regarding the second round of negotiations with the Iranian side.

U.S. media reported that former President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner will also accompany Vance on this trip.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has stated that Tehran will not engage in negotiations under threats and has declared readiness for conflict.

The first round of talks between Iran and Pakistan was also held in Islamabad but ended without any positive outcome.

Vance, who led the previous round of negotiations in Pakistan on behalf of the United States just over a week ago, said he would leave the talks without achieving the desired results and return to Washington.

Recent tensions over the past week indicate that it remains unclear whether Tehran is willing to send a representative to Pakistan.

In the past week, the Strait of Hormuz—an economically vital waterway for both sides and the world—has been closed for the second time after briefly reopening.
