Annual Production Capacity of Snow Pharma in Kandahar Increases

A pharmaceutical factory named “Snow Pharma” in Kandahar has increased its annual production capacity—from 6 billion to 14 billion units—covering 200 types of medicine since the beginning of the current solar year 1405.

Officials of the factory say that efforts are underway to launch additional sections to meet market demand.

Mohammad Saeed Siddiq, head of Snow Pharma in Kandahar, said: “Sano Pharma’s production has now reached nearly 14 billion. Therefore, new machinery has been imported and installed, and its operations will begin soon.”

Company officials consider improving the quality of medicines and maintaining stable prices as key objectives.

Mohammad Shafiq Lamar, an employee, said: “Snow Pharma’s products meet international standards, and efforts are ongoing to increase production and further improve quality.”

Another employee, Mirwais Hotak, added: “Snow Pharma’s medicines are supplied across all parts of Afghanistan.”

Officials from the Kandahar Chamber of Commerce and Investment say that currently four pharmaceutical factories are active in the province, and the production of some standard medicines has reduced the need for imports.

Abdul Ahad Siddiqi, head of the chamber, said: “In Kandahar alone, we have four large pharmaceutical factories, and four more are active in the cosmetics sector, collectively supplying around 300 types of products and medicines to the market.”

At present, most medicines are imported into Afghanistan from Iran, India, China, Russia, and several Asian and European countries. These imported medicines are more expensive than domestic products, and there are also concerns about the quality of some of them.
