Suhail Shaheen Urges World to See Afghanistan’s Reality Firsthand

After the US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that Afghanistan remains a key focus of Washington’s counterterrorism efforts, Suhail Shaheen, acting head of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s embassy in Qatar, said that security has been ensured across Afghanistan since the Islamic Emirate returned to power and that people are living normal lives.

Shaheen insisted that the world should not judge Afghanistan based on what he described as propaganda-driven reports. He urged the international community to visit Afghanistan and observe the realities on the ground firsthand.

“The world should not judge Afghanistan based on baseless media reports that are more propaganda than facts. Instead, they should come to Afghanistan and see the realities for themselves,” Shaheen said.

Meanwhile, several political and security analysts also believe that nationwide security in Afghanistan has improved compared to the years of war.

Idris Mohammadi Zazi said that Afghanistan’s current security situation is relatively among the best in the region and that no major security incidents have occurred in recent months.

Akhtar Mohammad Rasikh also said that with the return of the Islamic Emirate, nationwide security has been established after four decades, while efforts to combat narcotics have also been carried out effectively.

The remarks come after CENTCOM Commander General Michael Kurilla told a US Senate committee on Tuesday that Afghanistan remains one of Washington’s main areas of focus and that the United States, in coordination with its regional partners, continues to monitor potential threats originating from Afghanistan.
