Taliban fighters toke control of Chaha Ab district of Takhar province

Local sources in Takhar report that the municipal building and the police headquarters of Chaha Ab district of the province have fallen to Taliban fighters.

Salahuddin Burhani, a member of the Takhar Provincial Council, said that Taliban fighters attacked Chaha Ab district of the province from several directions, as a result of which the police headquarters and the municipal building of this district fell into the hands of Taliban fighters.

Mr Burhani added that Taliban fighters had set fire to the district after seizing the municipal building and the police headquarters.

But the Taliban have claimed that their fighters have taken full control of the Chahaab district center.
