The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Islamic Emirate says that employment opportunities have been provided for between 15,000 and 20,000 returnees in various private-sector and government institutions over the past two years.

The ministry also stated that since the establishment of the Committee for Providing Employment Opportunities for Returning Migrants, a total of 176,000 returnees have been registered during the past two years.

Meanwhile, some migrants deported from Pakistan, alongside other challenges they face, have stressed the need for employment opportunities for themselves and their children.

“My request to the government is to provide us with job opportunities and allocate land so that we can build homes for ourselves and our families,” Afsar Khan, a deportee from Pakistan, told .

Another deportee from Pakistan said: “We want assistance in various sectors in Afghanistan, and we ask that land be allocated to us.”

This comes as thousands of returnees from Pakistan continue to cite the lack of employment opportunities as one of the most serious challenges to rebuilding their lives and reintegrating into Afghan society.
