Ishkemish district in Afghanistan passed under Taliban control
The control of the Iskemis district of Tahar province in the northeast of Afghanistan passed to the Taliban.
Tahar Provincial Council Deputy Muhammed Yaqub Nazari told the press members that militants had launched an attack on the Iskemis district for a few days.
Expressing that the district center of Iskemis was under the control of the Taliban as a result of the attack, Nazari said that the security forces in the district had withdrawn.
Nazari said that İşkemiş District Governor Sayed Muqtadir and 11 security guards were injured in the attack.
In the statement made by the Taliban, it was claimed that they controlled all the police stations together with the district center.
On the other hand, on June 7, control of two districts in the country’s Gor and Uruzgan provinces passed to the Taliban.
Taliban militants stepped up their attacks to seize district centers as foreign forces began to withdraw from the country.
Militants have taken control of 10 districts across the country since the beginning of May.
