UN, EU, Central Asia Stress Importance of Stability in Afghanistan

The eighth meeting of the Special Representatives of Central Asian countries, the European Union, and the United Nations on Afghanistan was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
At the meeting, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia stressed the importance of integrating Afghanistan into regional economic processes.
Kaha Imnadze, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, said that sustainable stability in Afghanistan can only be achieved through the country’s full participation in regional economic cooperation and development projects.
According to a statement issued by the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, “Kaha Imnadze also stressed that the Centre supports the approach of Central Asian countries, which is based on the principle that lasting stability in Afghanistan can only be realized when the country is fully integrated into regional economic development processes.”
At the same time, the Islamic Emirate considers the role of Central Asian countries and the European Union important and influential in Afghanistan’s development.
The Deputy Minister for Technical Affairs at the Ministry of Economy emphasized that Afghanistan is ready to expand cooperation with Central Asian countries and the European Union.
Abdul Latif Nazari, Deputy Minister for Technical Affairs at the Ministry of Economy, said: “Afghanistan is prepared to establish broad economic, trade, and transit relations with Central Asian countries and other influential countries in the region across various sectors.”
Although the European Union does not maintain extensive political relations with Afghanistan’s current government, Central Asian countries have pursued a policy of supporting Afghanistan in overcoming its current challenges and maintain constructive political and economic relations with the country.
