Badakhshan Governor Denies Rift Between Juma Khan Fateh and Islamic Emirate

Badakhshan Governor Mohammad Ismail Ghaznavi said Juma Khan Fateh has no dispute with the Islamic Emirate and remains committed to the system.
Mohammad Ismail Ghaznavi, Governor of Badakhshan, said: “Mr. Fateh also served as a district governor here. He may have had some personal grievances, but he never had any ill intentions toward the system, nor did the system have any ill intentions toward him.”
Ghaznavi stressed that security in Badakhshan remains stable and that no individual or group will be allowed to disrupt it.
He added: “I assure you that no security incident has occurred in Badakhshan, and no one will be allowed to create any security incident.”
According to videos circulating on social media, after declaring his loyalty and support for the Islamic Emirate, Juma Khan Fateh arrived in Faizabad, the capital of Badakhshan, by an Air Force helicopter on Saturday before returning to his hometown of Darwaz.
Some residents of Badakhshan also shared differing views on the issue.
Faizullah, a resident of Badakhshan, said: “What the media published was false. We ask the media not to publish reports on issues they do not have complete information about.”
The remarks come after some media outlets in recent weeks reported an increased presence of Islamic Emirate forces in parts of Badakhshan and claimed there were possible tensions between Juma Khan Fateh and the leadership of the Islamic Emirate.
