Five security forces were killed on a Taliban attack in Bamyan

Local officials in Bamyan reported that six security forces were killed and wounded in a Taliban attack on several checkpoints in Kahmard district of the province.
Bamyan Governor Sayed Anwar Rahimi said that around 2 am today (Wednesday, June 16), Taliban fighters from several directions attacked the checkpoints in Kahmard district and clashes between security forces and the Taliban were still ongoing.
Mr. Rahimi added that five security forces were killed and one was wounded in the clashes.
But the Taliban have issued a statement claiming that nine security personnel were killed and two security checkpoints were captured by the group.
But the governor of Bamyan, rejecting the Taliban’s claim, said that the group’s fighters had not yet succeeded in capturing government facilities and that reinforcements had now arrived.
