24-Hour Transit Operations Begin at Pul-e-Abrisham Crossing

For the first time, 24-hour transit vehicle operations have begun through the Pul-e-Abrisham crossing in Afghanistan’s Nimroz and the Milak crossing in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan.

Local officials in Nimroz say the province’s border authorities, transport department, and customs office are ready to provide services to drivers and traders around the clock.

Saifullah Mohammadi, Head of the Nimroz Governor’s Office, said: “For the first time, transit vehicles can travel through the Pul-e-Abrisham and Milak crossings 24 hours a day. The border commission, transport, and customs departments are fully prepared to provide services to drivers and traders around the clock. Since the crossings began operating 24 hours a day, the number of transit vehicles has increased from around 400 to 800 per day.”

Gulab Madani, Head of the Nimroz Land Transport Department, said: “The transport department is fully prepared to provide all necessary services to drivers and traders and ensure that goods are transported without delays.”

Meanwhile, several drivers from both sides have welcomed the move, saying it has made transporting goods easier and allows them to cross without long waiting times.

Abdullah, a driver, said: “Since the crossings began operating 24 hours a day, things have become much easier for us. We no longer have to wait in queues for hours and can cross without difficulties. We thank the governments of Afghanistan and Iran for providing these facilities to drivers.”

Rohullah, another driver, said: “We are very happy that the crossing is now open 24 hours a day because we no longer waste time in long queues and can cross without waiting. Most importantly, reducing traffic congestion and waiting times also lowers the risk of fires.”

Previously, around 400 cargo trucks passed through the crossing daily. However, since the introduction of 24-hour operations, that number has increased to approximately 800 trucks per day.
