The Taliban have taken over the Kalafgan district of Takhar

Sources in Takhar report the fall of Kalafgan district in the province to Taliban fighters.

A security source, who did not want to be named, said that around 11 o’clock today, Taliban fighters had taken over the Kalafgan district of Takhar province.

He added that security forces had withdrawn from the district.

Meanwhile, the Taliban group has issued a statement claiming to occupy the district.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the district had fallen to the group.

Meanwhile, Taliban fighters have seized several districts in Badakhshan this morning.
