Water Regulatory Authority: A number of mortars has been fired on Selma Dam

Following the escalation of the conflict in the country, the National Directorate of Water Affairs says that a number of mortar shells have been fired on the Salma Dam area in Herat province.

The agency said in a statement that a large number of mortar shells had recently been fired at the Salma Dam area in the Chesht-e-Sharif district of Herat province, with large numbers hitting nearby areas It will be reported that in case of any damage to the Selma Dam, a large number of our compatriots will suffer heavy losses in addition to financial losses.

The department said that the Salma Dam is a very large dam, and that the lives and livelihoods of many of our compatriots in the eight districts below the Salma Dam depend on the water stored in the dam.

Emphasizing that national capital is the common property of all, the agency called on the Taliban not to damage these national assets as a result of military warfare.

The agency added that Selma Dam, this national asset, should be protected and any attack on the dam should be stopped.

According to the department, in case of damage to Salma Dam from Chesht Sharif district to Kahsan district of Herat province, all compatriots will be affected.
