Darah-e-soof district of Samangan province came under government control

The Ministry of Defense says that the Darah-e-soof district in the upper part of Samangan province has been cleared of Taliban fighters.

As a result of the operations of the defense and security forces and the popular uprisings this morning, the Dara-e-Suf district in the upper part of Samangan province has been cleared of Taliban fighters and has come under the control of the defense and security forces, the ministry said in a statement.

The statement added that the Taliban suffered heavy casualties and a large amount of their weapons and ammunition were destroyed in the operation.

The ministry said the operation would continue until a complete clean-up.
