Garmsir district of Helmand province was liberated from Taliban control

The Ministry of Defense has announced that the Garmsir district of Helmand province has been liberated from Taliban control.

Ministry spokesman Fawad Aman said that 20 Taliban fighters were killed and dozens more were wounded during the operation by defense and security forces in the district.

Mr. Aman added that the advance of the defense and security forces in Helmand province continues.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Wali Alizai, the governor of Helmand province, confirmed the recapture of the district, saying that the district had been liberated this afternoon as a result of an operation by security and defense forces from Taliban control.
