EU Delegate to Afghanistan: Taliban Must Return to Peace Talks

Roland Cubia, the EU Special Representative for Afghanistan, wrote on Twitter that peace and the realization of the aspirations of the Afghan people can be achieved through negotiations.

He said the Taliban could not regain full sovereignty by traveling abroad and could not reduce foreign influence.

The Taliban political delegation has recently traveled to Iran, Russia and Turkmenistan.

Members of the Afghan delegation also said that the Taliban had suspended peace talks and were traveling abroad.

But the Taliban have previously said that talks between Afghans in Doha have not stopped, and that such delays are normal.
